ZSecurity FAQ
VII. Parental Control Feature
Does Parental Control allow me to set restrictions on internet access?
Yes. With Parental Control you can set up three kinds of profiles to determine the scope of internet access each user has. The three types of profiles are Small Child, Teenager, and Parent. The Small Child profile is activated by default when you install the software.
What does the Small Child profile allow?
With this profile users can access only those web sites that have been specifically allowed and only during a pre-scheduled time. All allowed websites are listed on the Parental Control Start Page that is displayed when the browser is opened.
What does the Teenager profile allow?
This profile allows users access to all web sites unless they contain restricted or objectionable content and only during a pre-scheduled time.
What does the Parent profile allow?
This profile allows users unrestricted access the internet without any time or content restrictions.
How do I create internet profiles?
Profiles can be created during installation using the Startup Wizard or through the Parental Control tab of the ZSecurity GUI. When creating profiles you will need to create passwords that will be used to open the GUI, change settings, connect to the internet with a new program or remove ZSecurity. Always write down your passwords and store them in a secure place.
How do I allow web pages in the Small Child or Teenager profiles?
To allow specific web sites do the following:
1.Double-click the ZSecurity icon in the system tray; the GUI will open.
2.Click Parental Control, then Advanced.
3.Click Parental Control, then Small Child to the left.
4.Select Allow only selected sites, then click Configure.
5.5.Select the Allowed tab and click Add.
6.In the dialog box, type the address of the desired web site. Type www.example.com to allow the entire site or www.example.com/newpage.html for a single page
7.Click OK.
Can I extend the time on the Parental Control time lock?
Yes, this can be done in two ways. If the time has not yet expired, a pop-up will appear shortly before expiration. Click this pop-up to open the Parental Control dialog, then click Extend Internet browsing time. If time has already expired the time lock block page will open in your browser.
Click Extend Internet browsing time, enter your Parent password, and click OK. In the dialog box, enter a new time, and click OK
Can I reset my password if I have forgotten it?
