FAQ

Q. How does the ZSecurity Health Check work?

A. The ZSecurity Health Check utilizes Microsoft ActiveX technology. For this reason, it works with Internet Explorer only.

Q. I am running Windows 2000. Can I use the ZSecurity Health Check anyway?

A. If you have Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 and GDI+ (both provided by Microsoft) installed, the ZSecurity Health Check will run. However, it is not supported.

Q. I am receiving an error message stating that the ZSecurity Health Check can not run because of my security settings. How can I fix this?

A. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, then Internet Options. Click on the Security tab. Click Custom Level. In the ActiveX category, look on the list for "Download signed ActiveX controls". Change this radio button to "Prompt" and click OK. You will now be queried for your approval before Internet Explorer downloads ActiveX controls.

Q. Why am I receiving a security warning when I try to run the ZSecurity Health Check?

A. If Internet Explorer encounters ActiveX controls that Microsoft is not familiar with, it prompts the user to confirm that they wish to install them. This is to protect the user from software entering the computer without their permission.

Q. How do I uninstall the ZSecurity Health Check?

A. The ZSecurity Health Check installs ActiveX controls, but no software. If you wish to remove the ActiveX controls, browse to your Windows folder, find the Downloaded Program Files folder, and double click on it. Right click on ZSecurity Health Check, and select Remove. Then, browse to your Documents and Settings folder, and double click on the folders for your user name, LocalSettings, and Temp. Delete the folder labeled PCHC_1_1.

Q. Does the ZSecurity Health Check scan my computer for viruses and other malware?

A. No. The ZSecurity Health Check scans your computer for potential vulnerabilities and makes suggestions as to how they can be fixed. For a more comprehensive security solution, we recommend installing ZSecurity Anti-Virus or Internet Security.

Q. The ZSecurity Health Check is telling me that my computer has vulnerabilities. What should I do?

A. There is no need to panic. Click on the button labeled Solve to automatically download the updates available for your vulnerable software. If you are running software that is no longer supported by the manufacturer, we recommend that you download the latest version of that software, as the manufacturer will no longer correct any vulnerabilties discovered.

Q. If I run the ZSecurity Health Check, will the contents of my hard drive be reported to anyone?

A. Absolutely not. The ZSecurity Health Check will not send its results to your Internet Service Provider, Microsoft, or anyone other than you. The results are completely confidential.
